Reviews from Educators

“This charming children’s story captures the very real feelings of excitement and unease that come with trying something new. Through Sam’s journey to the school stage, young readers are gently introduced to the idea of stage fright in a way that feels relatable, reassuring, and even fun. The playful classroom scenes, colourful costumes, and musical moments keep children engaged, while the story’s heart lies in showing that fear is normal—and that courage can grow when friends support one another. With humour, empathy, and a joyful ending, this book is a wonderful resource for helping children understand their emotions, build confidence, and discover that sometimes the scariest moments turn into the most rewarding ones.”

Sam's Birthday Present

Sam shrugged his shoulders, feeling relieved that Robot was back in his hands. “Who needs those friends,” he mumbled, “when I’ve got Robot? So there!”

It’s Sam’s birthday, and his friends are looking forward to playing with his present, Robot—a shiny, dancing, music-playing toy. However, Sam surprises his friends when he decides Robot is better off being played with alone. Will recess still be fun with only Robot and without friends? Join Sam on his birthday as he discovers how his thoughts and actions affect the outcome of his special day. This heartwarming story explores the joy of sharing and the value of friendship.

Sam Takes the Stage

“Performance time!” Mr. Max called. “Everyone in position!” Sam’s stomach began to tickle again. Oh no! Without thinking, Sam darted onto the stage and hid behind a tree.

Sam’s stomach tickles with butterflies when he stands on the stage and sees the many rows of chairs filling the gymnasium floor. Sam believes he’s the only one feeling afraid. Will Sam perform in the annual Spring Show with his friends and teachers, and family in the audience?

Join Sam on his journey as he discovers his newfound fear of performing in front of a large audience, and how he unexpectedly takes the stage in the company of the people he cares about.
